Our Riding Day Camps are a great opportunity for children ages 6+ to learn about horses and riding. Whether they are a beginner or experienced rider, we have the right camp for them. Each camp has a maximum of 10 riders.
At KCR, we strive to create a safe and supportive environment where riders can learn and grow, and our experienced instructors will teach your child the skills they need to become a confident and capable rider.
We encourage our riders' parents to come and watch the last day of camp, as we like to put on a special horse show for the riders to demonstrate what they have learned.
Designed to be a safe and fun experience for beginner riders with little to no experience, and up to riders who have taken a few lessons or previous camps and have some experience with basic steering and trotting.
We will review and expand on such things as safe handling, grooming, daily care of the horse, care of your equipment, and how to tack and untack your horse.
We will have a 1 hour riding lesson each day to advance the basic riding position, balance, control, and steering through obstacle courses as well as picking up the pace to a trot and advancing our control while doing so.
Although most of the camp is geared towards the horses and other animals here on the farm, there will be a day with a few games as well as a craft for the children to take home as a little keepsake.
Designed to be a safe and fun experience for riders who have taken lessons and are confidently riding unassisted at a walk trot level and who have a little experience with beginner or intermediate canter.
We will review and expand on the knowledge of the riders horsemanship on and off of the horse. We will get into greater detail of daily horse care.
We will have a 1 hour riding lesson each day to advance the campers riding position, balance, control, and confidence. We will also be working over ground poles and moving towards course work with ground poles.
The camps are a nice way for our current students to meet other riders in our program and develop new friendships here at KCR.
We do encourage our riders' parents to come and watch the last day of camp, as we like to put on a special horse show for the riders to demonstrate what they have learned.
*Please note this is not a camp for a beginner with no experience, and the riders must meet the criteria to participate.
Designed to dig a little deeper on our riders equitation and details of their current jumping level. Riders will have a 1 hour riding lesson each day as well as a theory lesson of differing topics.
We will advance the knowledge of the riders horsemanship on and off of the horse. We discuss the individual program each horse may need throughout the year, such as their equipment, vet and farrier necessities.
We will learn to walk our jump courses on foot before we ride it and discuss how to approach your round on a horse show day.
The camps are a nice way for our current students to meet other riders in our program and develop new friendships here at KCR.
*Please note this is not a camp for a beginner with no experience, and the riders must meet the criteria to participate.
Registration and a signed waiver is required prior to attending. Equipment required for riding varies by discipline but generally includes heeled riding boots (Gum/Rain Boots can work), appropriate riding pants (leggings or sweat pants work, but no shorts or skirts), and a Certified Riding Helmet. Further clothing and riding gear can be added as the rider advances and for personal preference. We're happy to recommend items required and where to purchase them.
