We believe that a passion for equestrian excellence begins with the fundamentals of horsemanship, and builds on that with regular coaching and training. We provide a consistent and encouraging teaching method which fosters our students skills and confidence.
We offer English and Western disciplines in Group, Semi-Private, and Private formats with a minimum of a weekly commitment. Our program allows for the lessons to be on your own horse or ours! We have a large variety of exceptional school horses and ponies who have an unbeatable resume and a wealth of knowledge to share with their riders. The lessons are pre-booked in monthly packages and run all year around.
We offer our Barn Buddies program which introduces children to our ponies and barn animals, and includes pony rides and petting zoo visit. Our staff will individually guide this experience. See our Barn Buddies page for more information!
This program is for both children and adults, and is designed to be a safe and fun experience for riders of all levels. Each lesson will teach and advance on the skill set of each individual and their needs. From the basic riding position, balance, and control, to the advanced riders who want to dig a little deeper into the riders equitation as well as advancing details of their current level.
We welcome all riders who may have goals within recreational hobby level and up to competitive levels. Lessons also include and expand on such things as safe handling, grooming, daily care of the horse, care of equipment, and how to tack and untack the horse.
Our riders are encouraged to work through the self paced Equestrian Canada Rider Level program. This is a fantastic program, which focuses on creating a well rounded equestrian, to foster skills such as stable management, horsemanship, theory, and of course, riding skills. Upon completion riders would achieve rider accreditation, high school credits, and can also lead to coaching certification.
KCR hosts our own shows, as well as attends local horse shows throughout the year. Our hosted shows are open to only our current clients and are a nice way for a rider to be introduced to the world of horse showing while being comfortable in their home arena and feeling a little less intimidated.
The riders have the opportunity to experience the thrill of competition in the various types of classes with the support of their friends and family along side. We also add some fun aspects to our shows.
For the more competitive riders, there are also local shows that we regularly attend in the Lower Mainland, and these are arranged and organized closer to their registration times.
Registration and a signed waiver is required prior to beginning. Equipment required for riding varies by discipline but generally includes heeled riding boots, a Certified Riding Helmet, and appropriate riding pants, with further clothing and riding gear added as the rider advances and for personal preference. We're happy to recommend items required and where to purchase them. See our Terms and Conditions page for further information.
